The role reports to the Tax Manager and will be responsible for the following:
Compute corporate and deferred taxes quarterly and annually, providing advice on tax expense, effective tax rate, and analysis for the Company’s financial statements.
Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns in accordance with statutory deadlines.
Compile and submit monthly Withholding Taxes and VAT payments, ensuring compliance with the Income Tax Act.
Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations within set deadlines, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items.
Monitor tax exposure through regular compliance checks and obtain a Tax Compliance Certificate for the Company.
Provide tax planning advice to minimize tax costs and identify/mitigate emerging tax risks.
Maintain tax records, including master files of computations and correspondence with the Revenue Authority and other stakeholders.
Cultivate strong relationships with the Kenya Revenue Authority and other external stakeholders.
Ensure the smooth conduct of tax audits by the Kenya Revenue Authority and external auditors/consultants.
Ensure proper month-end tax procedures, including oracle tax payments and journals within set deadlines.
Ensure timely cancellation of bonds.
Academic qualificationsv​
Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/ economics and or related fields.
Qualified as CPA(K), ACCA or Equivalent
Skills, experience and attributes
Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience in accounting.
Knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
Advanced computer skills in Ms. Office, accounting software and databases.
A person of high integrity and maintains confidentiality.
